Alumni
Greetings, fellow Poets!
As president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, I'd like to welcome you to the Whittier College alumni website. On these pages, you'll find lots of information about current
Poet programs, events taking place on campus and in various regions across the United States, and ways to get involved with your alma mater.
The Association, in conjunction with the work of the Office of Alumni Relations, is here to help you stay connected with our greater Poet family, and to provide ways to strengthen and expand our various networks of communication, loyalty, and pride.
Speaking of pride, I am very proud to announce the recipients of our 2008 Poet Alumni Awards—alumni and friends who've gone "above and beyond" and are a true credit to the College:
- Community Impact Award: Cathy Pearce Standiford ’81
- Service to the College Award : Richard B. Cheatham ’68
- Alumni Achievement Award: Penny (Carns) Fraumeni ’68
- Outstanding Young Alumni Award: Jay ’97 & Nikomi (Garcia) Arroyo ’97
- Honorary Alumni Award: Dr. Joseph Price.
This year's honorees will be recognized at the Poet Awards Breakfast on October 18, during the Whittier Weekend 2008 festivities. The event is planned for the brand new A.J. Villalobos Hall, in the new Campus Center, so I hope to see you all there.
More good news—you can now register for the Poet Awards Breakfast and other Whittier Weekend events by visiting our POET ONLINE COMMUNITY. In this terrific new site, alumni can look up old friends, submit class notes, get news, and join in discussion boards. First-time log-in users may register for this password-protected site, by clicking here.
Last, you may want to check out/bookmark another new feature just added to our site: the Alumni Event Photo Galleries pages. Here, you'll get a sampling of some of our best-attended gatherings, and maybe spot an old classmate or two!
I look forward to seeing you at Whittier Weekend 2008, October 17-19, and if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions for how we can improve the Association or these webpages, please drop me a line at alumni@whittier.edu.
Best,
Rachel (Homel) Rice '96
President, Whittier College Alumni Association
